Qld:Woman in court on manslaughter charge

BRISBANE, Aug 24 AAP - A 21-year-old woman will face a north Queensland court today
on charges of manslaughter and attempted murder after one man was killed and another injured
in a road accident two years ago.

A 39-year-old man died when he was flung from the tray of a speeding ute when it left
the Bruce Highway and crashed into a house near Babinda, south of Cairns.

The accident occurred at about 3.30am on October 19, 2002.

A police spokeswoman said it was alleged the woman, believed to have been a passenger
in the car, had pulled on the ute's steering wheel, forcing it off the road.

The woman, 21, was only found recently after fleeing Queensland.

She was to appear in Innisfail Magistrates Court today.
