NSW: ABA proposes two new Sydney commercial radio licences

Two new commercial radio licences will be up for grabs in Sydney under a draft plan
released by the Australian Broadcasting Authority today.

The ABA's draft licence area plan for Sydney also proposes that three new community
licences covering the city's metropolitan area be made available.

ABA chairman Professor DAVID FLINT says the draft plan only reflects the ABA's view and
public submissions will be called for and assessed before it's finalised.

There's no timetable for finalisation of the plans but once that happens, the ABA will call
for applications from potential operators of the new radio stations.
